About our Values.
Our core values help LKQ and its employees make important business decisions about hiring, training, short and long-term strategy, leadership techniques, and help shape our company culture. We are “LKQ Proud”. This simple statement drives everything we do. It speaks to pride in ourselves and each other, pride in the Company, pride in our customers, and pride in the communities in which we operate in and serve.
We challenge the status quo and we are champions of positive change.
We believe in being adaptable and open to new ideas.
We are constantly seeking out new ways to improve and to evolve.
We are solutions focused, and we do more with less, and are resilient in this pursuit of serving our customers.
We believe in using our resources wisely, efficiently, and finding creative solutions to challenges.
In 2020, LKQ established the LKQ Community Foundation. LKQ Corporation’s mission includes building strong partnerships with our employees and the communities in which we operate. LKQ values the strong, enduring relationships we have cultivated with local charities, and we are especially proud of the philanthropic efforts of our employees. The LKQ Community Foundation provides us with an ongoing opportunity to support the various organizations that are striving to improve the communities where we live and work. Our areas of focus include:
The LKQ Community Foundation will match an LKQ employee’s personal donations (up to $500 U.S. based currency equivalent per calendar year) to charitable organizations, provided they are permissible grantees for the Foundation and our matching gifts provider.
In 2018, LKQ created the LKQ Corporation Employee Assistance Fund. The Fund is designed to provide short-term, emergency support to LKQ Corporation’s employees within North America who are facing serious financial hardship because of certain unforeseen and unpreventable circumstances and who cannot afford housing, utilities, or other basic living expenses.
Each year LKQ Corporation grants approximately $500,000 or more in scholarships to the children of its employees; with each student receiving a $2,500 LKQ Joseph M. Holsten Scholarship to advance their post-high school education. LKQ employees who have a child planning to attend an accredited college, university, or technical, community or vocational school are encouraged to apply to help advance their child’s education. Previous award recipients must reapply each year. The maximum amount a recipient may be awarded is $10,000.
Today, we are proud to be the world’s largest recycler of vehicles. Our salvage vehicle operations recycle more than 90% of the materials from end-of-life vehicles that would otherwise end up in a landfill. LKQ was built on a solid foundation with attention to recycling and sustainability efforts. And yet, we realize the need to continually do more.
The LKQ Sustainability Report 2020 is our inaugural sustainability report and signifies our commitment to disclosing and further enhancing our environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices across our global operations. While this is our first report, we have been an environmental leader since the day we were founded in 1998. Today, we are the largest recycler of vehicles in the world. The same level of commitment we make to the environment, we also make to our customers through our commitment to quality, fulfillment rates, and service reliability, and to our employees by treating them with dignity and respect. We believe that delivering long-term value for our stakeholders is important to our success. We view ESG elements within this report as integral to our enterprise approach to sustainability. To inform our disclosure, the report applies the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) guidelines. We recognize we are on a journey, and we welcome your feedback.
