Keystone Charleston helped its neighbors last month, teaming up with the local American Legion Post 179 for “Fill the Pantry” day at the Veterans housing in their neighborhood called Patriot Villas. The location along with the Legion raised $1,000 to purchase food and supplies for the residents there.
Patriot Villas Apartments has been combating homelessness among veterans in the Charleston area since 2017. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs partnered on the restoration project converting an old motel into the current veteran housing. There is an office on the campus and Veterans have access to therapy, counseling, and support groups through the VA. The restored villas have 74 rooms that come equipped with a bed, a full bathroom, and a kitchen.
Donations slow down at the first of the year so the Charleston location kicked in and wanted to start the year off right helping our veterans get the food and supplies they deserve.
