On the one-year anniversary of the start of the war in Ukraine, the Northeast Region would like to spotlight the General Manager of our LKQ Keystone Exeter location, Sergey Zhovtuka. Sergey arrived in the United States as a fifteen-year-old refugee from Ukraine in 2000, and last year Sergey sponsored the Lysco family from Ukraine under the State Department’s “Uniting for Ukraine” program.
Uniting for Ukraine provides a pathway for Ukrainian citizens and their immediate family members to come to the United States and stay temporarily for a two-year period. Ukrainians participating in the program must have a supporter in the United States who agrees to provide them with financial support for the duration of their stay in the United States.
Sergey and his wife, Tatyana, have made a substantial commitment to sponsor the Lysco family. Peter, Zlata, and their five children arrived in the United States in November 2022. Since then, the family has begun a new life in Exeter, PA. Peter works in construction as he did in Ukraine, while Zlata cares for the children, who have started attending school. Sergey, Tatyana, and the Lyscos have been supported throughout this process by the tight-knit community at their Ukrainian-Russian Baptist Church. The church community has sponsored a total of five Ukrainian families, consisting of more than thirty individuals, who have relocated to the U.S. in the past year.
Please join us as we recognize Sergey and Tatyana’s generous commitment to supporting the Lysco family.
